The world is becoming ready. It's a multi year process. But it's starting. Just starting.

We cannot really take advantage of persistent memory right now, not to the full extent anyway.

Why?

because software is written for and tailored to DRAM and SSD hardware.

You cannot just introduce new hardware with different characteristics and expect the software to be able to take full advantage of it's benefits.
The true performance of the hardware will literally get bottlenecked by the software. Funny because usually it's the other way around.

Because of this fact (not an opinion, rather cold hard fact) the demand remains well below what it will eventually be years from now.

I have sung this from the bloody rooftops for the last 12 months.

Its coming though.
