Re "One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years"

I have noticed this tendency on the extreme side of politics to make climate predictions and then disown (or significantly qualify) them when they fail to materialize.

It has been the backdrop of my life, listening to wealthy morons telling normal people about the awful things that are about to happen. Only to then discover that some of these individuals have, for example, built majestic properties right next to the very ocean their advisers had previously told them would be flooding straight over the top of them.

Instead of being allowed to mock these lying opportunistic rats, we are then subjected to an indignant mob who will split hairs over what the "wealthy morons" actually meant to say when they disclosed that a significant portion of the world would never recover.

"oh, he didn't mean that exactly, didn't you watch the video properly, obviously you have an agenda.....".

I'm left wondering, will there be a point at which the normal person, who wants to try and do the right thing within reason, gets the opportunity to tell these people to "F$&k off" and they actually follow the instruction?
