Platniums primary use currently is in catalytic converters, yes thats true however as others have mentioned elsewhere hybrids require larger amounts of Pt in their catalytic converters. Also looking at future technologies, the most promising in my mind, hydrogen fuel cells, use platnium as a catalyst also, exact levels i do not know off the top of my head but i suspect it would be in a larger level than a standard cat converter
