EL,
The Blackwater coals have been at outcrop or near surface for a significant geological time, and therefore my comment with regards to biogenic gas stands. I am not suggesting that this process will add anything to the gas content of the coals now, but I do believe this mechanism could have possibly effected the coals over recent geological times, i.e 100s of thousands of years.
As you may be aware the hydrogeology of CBM fields is very important, and all I am hoping to see from BOW if possible, is some indication of how they plan on de-risking these potential issues. I very much hope they are not issues, but it would be reassuring for shareholders to know what measures the company is taking to address these potential risks, and also establish if secondary generation of CH4 has contributed to the gas contents.
I hold a number of CBM shares in a number of companies and would be asking this question of any of them if I thought it could be an issue.
No fishy smells, hopefully the company will de-risk these issues and come up smelling of roses!
Cheers,
Comline
