That is because the case numbers also went way down then due to lockdown, social distancing, etc. You have to look at what is happening now. The circled part of the charts below show that the case numbers are rocketing -> 20,000 new cases per day and increasing exponentially. Yet deaths and hospitalizations are decreasing down to zero. Lots of people did not take the vaccine. Why are they not getting sick and dying now? This is happening everywhere including countries where hardly anyone is vaccinated. It is proof that the delta variant does no serious harm. If it did, the UK government certainly would not be ignoring it and ending all the covid restrictions.

Now we have the ridiculous situation where the UK is treating the delta virus like it is the common cold, and Australia is treating it like it is the bubonic plague. Both cant be right!
