Keep in mind when Direct Nickel were first piloting DNI they were competing against Nickel pig iron process and at the time is wasn't as economical, this was the main reason why DNI struggled to get into production IMO. However, there is a whole new market now (EV) where DNI is now the superior product.

The timeline is perfect for QPM by the time if/when it gets into production in 2024 and proves commercial viability around 2025. It only leaves 4 years for the patent to be usable before it expires which is a pretty short time frame from competition to go from concept to production. Once 2029 hits DNI will most likely become open source IMO. However, QPM has improved upon the patent by quite abit I could be mistaken but i don't recall Direct Nickel making HPA, i'm pretty sure QPM has added that into the process.
