I find that statistic hard to believe.
I can tell you though that an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat Specialist) that I went to twenty odd years ago had kept stats on all his patients. In a sub-group of +1,000 patients, that took aspirin daily, there was a consistent increase in sputum levels of about 30% which in turn lead to elevated chest infections.
So whilst people take aspirin to assist the movement of their platelets, it does increase the chances of chest infections in some people. Side affects, don’t you just love them.
