Fwiw I don't disagree with your suggestion about the catholic church, for their recent abuses of children i think it's appropriate they be declared a criminal organisations and their assets confiscated under proceeds of crime laws. But that's based on things they've done in the recent past, not stuff from hundreds of years ago
