I said there is ( indicative of present tense ), no nickel mined in QLD.
The misstep is missing the part where greenvale closed in 1993 & Yabulu thereafter processed ore imported from New Caledonia.
There was. There is not.
We also introduce another note for those newer to AUZ- that BHP was planning to ( & did? ), send ore from Western Australia ( as far if not further from yabulu than New Cal. ), to be processed there.
Yet another example of just how uncompetitive QLD nickel has been for the last 28 years when compared to that of New Cal. and WA. Economic reality for QLD since 1993 is this: Ship from New Cal. & process? ‘Can do’. Transport from WA & process? ‘Can do’. Buy the local nickel from Greenvale or tap Sconi to revive that? ‘Can’t do’.
AUZ’s latest acquisition? Some land in WA. One of the reasons I sold out of this stock a few years ago was that the tenements are too far from each other. They can’t leverage off each other.
Now we see the latest arrow fired at a location almost as far as can be from those, for me, too widely separated East Coast tenements? Not a vote of confidence for those tenements from those most intimately associated with them but perhaps a reminder of the reality of nickel mining ( not to confused with processing a la yabulu from 1993 onwards ), in Australia.
Perhaps more an unspoken admission of where nickel can work here ( Oz ).
As always- I think the company needs to shake up the board and get rid of one or more of those far flung tenements so as to be able to more effectively progress that/those that remain.
