I understand that this debate is about losing the right to have a home birth, as quoted by S8.
"But from July 2010, they will no longer be able to call themselves midwives even though they are trained. Only those insured and registered can use the term midwife, otherwise they face a $30,000 fine".
I have met women who are passionate about home births and I have friends who are registered nurses who are totally against it. How can you risk assess a home birth when labour can be so unpredictable?
