@tbirdsrgo; it's been demonstrated many times before on this forum that Australia only has one mainstream political party which is slightly to the left of centre - The Greens. Labor, Liberals and Nationals are very much right wing parties so that talking about them as is they're Lefties is just plain wrong.
Below is a table of how Labor and Liberals scored on the Political Compass based on analysis of what said and promised at recent elections:
Labor Scores [-10 to +10]
Liberal Scores [-10 to +10]
Comment2007 Rudd vs Howard 2.8 // /2.8 6.7 /// 5.7 Labor right wing / Liberal ultra right wing
Labor mildly authoritarian / Liberal authoritarian
2013 Rudd vs Abbott 5.3 /// 5.5 8.5 /// 7.0 Labor right wing / Liberal extreme right wing
Labor authoritarian / Liberal almost dictatorial
2016 Shorten vs Turnbull 4.5 /// 4.5 8.0 /// 6.5 Labor right wing / Liberal ultra right wing
Labor authoritarian / Liberal strongly authoritarian
2019 Shorten vs Morrison 4.5 /// 3.0 8.0 /// 7.5 Labor right wing / Liberal extreme right wing
Labor mildly authoritarian / Liberal dictatorial
The Greens have averaged a rating of -3 for Left vs Right and -3 for Authoritarian vs Libertarian
Conclusions:
1. Labor is a mildly authoritarian right wing political party
2. In Australia Labor is a dictatorial extreme right wing political party
3. The Greens are slightly to the left of centre and mildly libertarian
4. Since 2007 both the Labor Party and the Liberal Party have become more right wing and more authoritarian.
