I don't think LCK will be able to teach China much about syngas. The Chinese have been doing syngas for years, according to this 2014 article from the Lowy Institute

JL , no need for an inbound natural gas pipe into Leigh Creek for backup. The plant will only run on syngas. Only conceivable use for natural gas would be to heat the swimming pool, if it has been retained, and maybe for cooking burgers at the takeaway.
