Just wondering where you got the figure of $500m, in his second (successful) endevour to purchase silver in 1997 he was said to have purchased 129 moz which would equate to US$864m at $6.70. There is much speculation about this number, ie some say he was convinced to lease a portion to ease pressure on supply and only has 95moz (or similar). It seems no one can identify if he still holds this silver at all. It was shipped to London after purchase by the way.
Your $500m figure would infer he has 74.6 moz at $6.70.
Total demand for 02 was 870.7moz and for 03 was 880.2 far more than any amount Buffett is likely to have.
Can you give me anymore info on the source of the $500m figure?
