Agree with your last comment do more with less... have to .. climate change will remove vast areas currently being farmed. Less people also would help, population sustainability instead of growth.
Wind turbines don't take up room, look at UK parking them offshore, cant even see them.
Diffuse sources are the way to go, community batteries, solar on roof tops, wind turbines in appropriate locations, solar farms, moderating mix gas turbines for base load for the next 30 years. Having single site energy sources make large parts of the economy very vulnerable, and centralized living more of an issue, If they go off line for whatever reason (attack, natural disaster, worker strikes)
Overlapping energy production, with fast response systems from batteries. Perfect.
