Actually seems you are getting warmer if you are looking beyond geothermal. AJM @ FLV more likely to be Clay or comparatively low grade Brine potentially suitable for DLE. You may want to check out projects like LAC's Thacker Pass, or Ioneer's Rhyolite Ridge that are closer to Li production in Nevada to get a broader idea of different approaches being undertaken in the State.
As per the regular VUL presentations, they believe there are only 2 Li bearing geothermal reservoirs suitable for competitive production of Li chems. Seems you disagree from recent posts, but then again their reference to just 2 places could be marketing.
You would know DLE is something I have researched and posted on extensively for a long time. My research goes beyond news articles to reading patents, company releases and direct correspondence. DLE is a subject I remain very passionate about. Don't confuse questioning one project with being against the idea for the right deposits.
Perhaps you missed the previous flowchart I showed you where the use of Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4) is pretty much standard for conversion of Spodumene Concentrate to Li Chemicals. As per your above article it has also been proposed for leaching Lithium bearing clay while Tesla is pursuing a different method.
I am unaware of PLS using Sulphur in any form. PH balancers are commonly used and H2SO4 would be an option albeit unlikely IMO, and even so given the standard usage of H2SO4 by SC6 converters I can't see a problem. That company has been shipping large volumes of product and frankly dangerous H2S gas building up in the holds of bulk carriers sounds fanciful.
I think you have conflated challenges involving the use of Sulphides as an electrolyte for Solid State batteries with unsubstantiated rumours of a smell at an entirely different part of the battery supply chain.
Further research on Solid State Batteries that may help you to understand how Sulphides are being proposed and why that differs from Spodumene Concentrators and subsequent methods to convert to Li Chems...

And beat of luck to Elon. We shall see how he goes with his method for clay. From my perspective his comments are often unreliable, eg. that classic tweet that all their Li comes from Australia while they were using Livent supply at Giga Nevada through Panasonic that originated in Argentina.
