You obviously have no knowledge of the way farmers manage the soil these days.
Here is a paragraph from a book i am writing on the subject.

In an early life i was manager of a fertiliser manufacturing and marketing business and later on I was a "co-operator" with the ABRS division, University of New England involved fertiliser trials. I hosted field days and visits from Rural Science students.
You underestimate modern farmers.
