Hi Jetson
Yes, the LA in LANI is Long Acting... basically 100+ times more potent than Relenza. In fact, it only has to be inhaled once for a full weeks protection from getting the flu at all. It's massive, they don't use Relenza/Tamiflu so much for preventing flu but LANI can easily be used for this purpose.
And further, to treat the flu it requires a single inhalation. It can even be performed in the doctors surgery just once! No compliance risk what so ever.
And even further, it can be made into a nebulized form for an emergency setting delivering the drug directly to the lungs of patients who are in intensive care.
LANI is a huge leap forward in neuraminimdase inhibition... almost like a jump from inventing the wheel directly to a trip to the moon!
I'm personally quite confident that LANI will succeed in Phase III. What I'm not sure about are their plans for the ROW license... will they licence to major pharma (this is my desired outcome, would involve large up front payment) or will they market and distribute themselves... all will be revealed soon. $2 may be the bargain of a lifetime... we'll see.
