The only time for a share consolidation is when the company is making money and won't need to dilute again. Otherwise the sp nearly always slips back to where it was before. Companies often do it to attract new blood, but they burn the original shareholders in the process.
Examples of share consolidation failures are everywhere, such as GDA, NIO, RRS. They are all trading around the price they were prior to consolidation. Even BTV has struggled to trade at an equivalent to the pre-consolidated price despite holding cash and assets above their market cap.
Share consolidation is a last resort only imo unless the company is making money or at least about to break even.
