jpv, Lihir stuffed up big time. You cant bulk mine these narrow quartz vein deposits using jumbos and the likes. SLR took over the Daisy Milano mine after Perilya failed using bulk methods but using airleg mining to minimise dilution have instantly turned it into a big winner. HEG is doing the same and BDG will airleg some of their deposit as well. MCO going the same way so the penny is starting to drop!!
Apologies as CVN is NOT a gold miner but I had to clear up that point.
