Apart from those merging/ TO steps, which might be premature at the moment ( but certainly a strong likelihood in 2 years ),
another issue to consider in regards to COVID in Europe is the high occurrence of long COVID in kids.
Those asymptomatic cases show long term effects like stunted growth, muscle weakness etc.

If societies open up the testing regime for schools need to be bumped up considerably, protecting the unvaccinated young population to avoid debilitating long term
effects in those patients.
