I applaud the AFL for seeking to do whatever possible by way of enforcing rules to protect players from spinal injuries and cheap shots. League supporters constantly cite reasons such as you just have as equating to some sort of cowardice on the part of the game and its players.
How ridiculous.
The aim of the game is surely not to disable people or take opportune times when players are defenceless to land a cheap shot.
That is simply cowardly behaviour. Anyone can do that if they're weak enough.
Let's get over this garbage about promoting thuggery for the sheeple to baa about. I prefer to see good hard play, but leave the cheap shots out of it.
Things like shoulder charges are simply disguised cheap shots.
