I shall make a second post due to your folloow up.
It appears you took my mention of 'concept luvvies', and aspirational Tesla ownership as a personal attack.
It was a description of some zealous acolytes and not personalised at all,
and absolutely a description of the very same as you - that one does not want to waste ones "short" precious time.
Either side or both, in a debate can have similar notions of how, or to what degree they may interact.
Mine is formulated in a manner similar to yours and my post in response to your reply, acknowledged that.
I expect my car after next to be fully electric, if matters pan out the way I expect, c.8-10 years.
I would like to build my next home off grid in an urban environment -the DA for which I will presenting in the near future,
-but will most likely be prevented by the electricity supplier from exercising what I believe should be my 'right' to do so.
I would like the use of petrochemicals reduced considerably, but am realistic enough not to believe like some, that it can end on a day some (IMO) unobtainable, suit all model of (total renewables) running the electricity grid as only one part of the 'new energy'/ 'sustainable products' revolution/transformation is switched on. (Both these terms are IMO used as weasel words -defined and interpreted by users to suit their own NIMBY benefit- again by both sides of the overall debate.)
The ways of dealing with the arguable concept of "climate change" excessive? CO2 production and the myriad of elements that thereto pertain are complex and quite varied, with many actors, vested interests and location specific models.
No denying on my part.
Anyway I will not further impose on your thread and hope that you read this post for what it says,
and not succumb to the posting style of Acorn and a few of similar ilk that believe,
that total adherence to a concept is 'left or right' right or wrong and all in disagreement to their notion are wrong and
therefore idiots, or lack analytical ability, empathy, compassion and the better side of human traits - ones s/he appears to have in short supply.
