I have a feeling that the discussion on this thread may be missing the point of these biphasic materials. I think the biphasic research is about changing the generating cycle rather than the primary heat exchanging loop. At present this generating cycle is uses steam via a conventional steam turbine. The physics of this gas/liquid cycle limits its efficiency to around 30% in theory and 20% in practice. A conventional steam turbine powered by fossil fuels can have an efficiency of around 50%. This is because fossil fuel burning power stations operate at a much higher temperature than geothermal.
My understanding is that the biphasic fluid will remain as a "liquid", expanding when heated and dissipating the resultant pressure increase through a hydropower type turbine that would operate via liquid rather than gas. In this way, the generator would not be constrained by the Carnot Cycle.
