I don't think it was disregarded but it was disagreed with in the announcement. I agree the mention of the plug should have been in there though. In any case I think both should have waited for WE5 results.
What's the worst that could have happened? Some whinging "Why didn't they announce these theories earlier?" when the expected gap between WE4/5 tests and supposed confirmation is a mere couple of weeks?
