Yes acorn, I thought that was a most extraordinary article.

Given that many nay sayers often hint at their vast knowledge of the complexities of the grid and how only lefty socialist woke environmentalist can possibly argue for 100% renewable energy, here we have an eminently qualified head of AEMO not only saying that it can b done, but it can be done so by 2025.

So in terms of technical feasibility, that gives us a pretty good indication of what is and what is not possible within that timeframe. Any delay past this point is therefore likely due to such things as lack of political will, the fossil fuel industry having captured government or simply incompetence...

I do understand that being able to absorb and use 100% renewable energy at any point in time is not the same as supplying 100% renewable energy, for which a 2050 target is being articulated.

Now I might just be a zealot, but it is good to see that so too is the new chief of AEMO.

When he notes:

“And this must be our goal not because of personal ambition, politics or ideology, but because we know this is where we’re headed! Daniel Westerman

“A combination of technical innovation, economics, government policies and consumer choice, is driving this energy transition faster than it ever has before.”

... quite a stark contrast in language to that of some climate change deniers, who seem to think that progress towards renewable energy has to be happening at a snails pace.
