goto start-> control panel->system.
then on tabs click on Advance.
Open Performance Options dialog window.
click on Advance tab.
ensure that Processor sheduling is set for programs.
Click on the Change button in Virtual memory.
Alter your settings to use more if you require more virtual memory.
probably need to reboot.
