Why would you care what shorters do? I could give you broker data saying that instos and retail have been net buyers, but it wouldn't mean there was a positive announcement coming. They're punters just like the longs, if the announcement is bad they get rewarded but if it is positive they get squeezed. Same is true for longs but vice versa. The shorts aren't any more intelligent than the longs, so an increase in short positions doesn't indicate anything at all. If anything you should see it as positive, because those are a lot of traders who will need to buy a whole lot of shares when the time comes that A2M begins to announce upgrades to forecasts, which will happen. They've already sold their positions so even if the announcement is bad, their positions won't hurt any long holders and they will only be rewarded. Even more, the fact they have to buy shares to take profits could cushion a crash in the share price (unlikely to happen imo)
