My long-term intellectual interest in NWH is in the company moving up the value chain. That is, get into more sophisticated work like mineral processing plant (design, construct and maintain). A similar up-the-value-chain move applies to fields like road construction – that is take on more planning and design, plus more complex structures. This is why I have read with interest that Iluka has proposed a rare earths refinery at Eneabba north of Perth, which is estimated to cost $1.2 billion.

NWH does not have to get a significant slice of that Iluka action if it is not ready to do so. Designing and building refineries is one of the forward-looking paths down which NWH should be heading, and probably is heading. The connipsions of the current Big Dick of China is likely to encourage many mineral-processing initiatives in the rest of the world, and NWH must be ready to horn in on the action. As an aside, the FY20 Annual Report mentions Illuka – to wit, “DIAB Engineering undertook fabrication and construction of a gold processing plant for Northern Star, fabrication and construction of an ultra fines processing plant and the construction of a 6.5 kilometre conveyor system for Roy Hill, installation of a crushing circuit for a major lead/zinc producer Golden Grove and the construction of a screening/stacking plant for Iluka.” Also see https://www.iluka.com/getattachment/feff0353-8784-4dc9-a515-a887a27aeb7d/eneabba-rare-earths-refinery-%E2%80%93-letter-from-austral.aspx
