Yes I feel sad for many things that happen today but it is not symptomatic of today's people Vs yesterday's. My experience is that despite the many 'sad' things that still occur Aus society as a whole is definitely improving (don't confuse "improving" with "as good as it should be" lol)
In my grandfathers era (even my much of my parents era) Aborginals couldn't vote, women's rights were unheard of, homosexuals were illegal,even child abuse and rape were common place and unpunished.
