Have you tried short selling your neighour's house? or their cars? in the hope that you can buy them back cheaper and make a profit out of it? You'll probably say the law forbids it. Just because the law allows short selling shares it doesn't make it ethical.
You CAN, legally, short shares. We CAN, legally, hope you get burnt.
