To be fair, if we'd approved a drug quickly and it turned out to cause problems, the government has to wear that. It would be a difficult position to be in.

Given that we didn't have Covid for a while ( almost frown.png ) , there was no genuine basis to short cut the system.

Each country has it's own process so we have to follow those protocols. Just like we do with anything else.

That said, if we'd just taken a national approach right from the get go with whichever vaccine we had available and distributed it as quickly as humanly possible, combined with better hygiene controls, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Victoria's last lockdown was caused by a hotel quarantine failure in Adelaide. I note there was very little mention of that in these threads by the RWNJs. How many hotel quarantine failures are we going to have ? I believe that was No 28 !!!!!

Now we have two states shut down because of an absolute hygiene protocol failure in a third state.

We have old mate limo driver in Sydney that wasn't required to be vaccinated carting around air crew from overseas. It seems the government's policy is to wait for the car crash and then go and hose the blood of the road rather than preventing the crash in the first place.

On top of that was the poor messaging from all governments on getting vaccinated. Bloody slack arse Australians didn't get vaccinated because things were going too well. They were also spooked by the anti vaxing idiots.

Guess what happened once the virus broke out ? People stopped worrying about vaccine issues and started jumping up and down wanting to get vaccinated. mad.png

We have a vaccination problem because we have a hygiene management problem.

We all have house insurance in the very unlikely event our house burns down. But that doesn't mean we should leave the yard in a mess, have dodgy wiring, store all sorts of chemicals together in the laundry, not have smoke detectors and leave the open fire going overnight without the fire guard in place.

The better you manage your place, the less chance that it will burn. It's not that hard to work out.
