I think folks have to ask themselves this. Would they have been happy to defer the MR and haggle over including the 918,000oz? How long would that have taken? 3 months...another 12....2 years? I mean, we could have a "Covid-19 foxtrot strain" by December that shuts everything down again....not worth the risk.
So now, JvH and crew mobilise and get cracking with production (if it gets to that) while in the background others can work towards securing that area.
Also, look at this way....even if we were to bump up the capacity to 100koz p/a (from 60), it'll take a couple of years to get the 2.25Moz+ out of the ground, and that extra 918koz would have been secured way before then.
