Going into details of using the indicators is beyond the purpose of this forum and our discussion and way out of topic. But generally, if you prefer a flatter signal, and to plot a zero degree horizontal line but haven't been able to do so, my basic first impression is that you have selected a wrong indicator from the SSA suite. Those characteristics you describe belongs to the QPhase oscillator that you should tweak and use.

I'm sure as you proceed to work on it, you will be able to customise it to whatever you have intended.
