The demonstrations against police murder and violence involved over 15 million people of all colours and ethnic backgrounds, demonstrating to defend democratic rights. The fires and smashed windows were mostly caused by Trump supporter provocateurs like fascist proudboys and "bikers for Trump". The violence was overwhelmingly from the Police, directed against demonstrators, who were defending democracy.
The coup attempt was led by violent fascist thugs like proudboys and pro Trump fascist militias. Tremendous damage was done by a few thousand violent fascist Trump supporters. Their intent was to threaten and kill elected lawmakers and prevent democracy, the act of counting the electoral votes. That would have kept Trump in power as a dictator.
So completely different to the peaceful democratic protests against police violence. Huge difference.
