I reply because imo there is still potential in a payment app that covers all the australian banks banks, not just a cba app atttempting to develop and compete with lge tech apps etc.
Eftpos attempted to establish a app not sure what happened as a result. But eftpos doesn't sell mobile phones and have they don't have a 50% share of the mobile phone market.
Tls does so tls has a 50% market share payment app potential with incentives as in bundling with a payment app..
Apple will always be restricted to their 25% to 30% market share because they can't expand beyond their phone market share. But obviously the applepay app is the best.
Same google and samsung payment apps.
This is just another issue for the banks which as posted is they can't sit on their hands, their credit card fees provide imperative revenues for them.If they sit on their hands and the major app suppliers take full controll of mobile phone payments they will then have material control of the commissions they charge each bank.As there will a few apps in the market the accc wont get involved and finally the lge techs will establish their own banks ie applebank etc or a partner ship with one bank and that bank will pay for it..
Its just a major threat for australian banks and imo eftpos (ceo ex tls bruce mansfield) and tls have a competitive advantage to establish a domestic app for our banks with a visa agreement so ph can be used globally.
ps ntt have little interest in australia, they have more interest in the chinese and US markets (ntt in partnership with a chinese telco maybe china mobile).
Again 2 weeks to wait or i can give u the report now.?very predictable.
ps this is a serious issue for the banks as cba recently confirmed again.
