I fixed a large part of my mortgage for 2 years on Friday evening at 5.79% and yesterday they increased the rate to 6.39%. That is a big increase in one go and provides an indication about what may be coming in terms of interest rates rises in the near future. However should the larger economies of the world begin to struggle again then I would expect upward pressure to abate, hence why I decided to go with only a two year fixed term.
