No you don’t understand the system
and what you are suggesting is what caused the problem in the first place
the raw brine has many elements and the percentage
of K2 SO4 that you want is less than 2%
from memory and Sevo will correct me
SO4 Raw Brine salt ratio was 30 -1
30 ton of nasties to one ton goodies
you still with me ?
the plant isn’t capable of separating that
which is why the ponds are used
you want this to 6-1 buy the time it is Rom feed
hence the 2 500 000 ton plant feed they talk about
you need to get the maximum amount of nasties out
before it gets to the plant
think of it as hosing of your dirty clothes to get most of the mud of before putting in the washing machine
the washing machine can get the last bit of mud out
but if you shovel mud into the machine
it simply won’t work
the next trick is ensuring you haven’t washed the goodies out with the nasties
which is what has happened here
all the good stuff has fallen out in the salt floor
and can’t be retrieved
so there are two problems that are both costly and expensive
the 2 years of salt / rom feed is low grade
not because the K2So4 has changed
the ratio of nasties is to high
the percentage is low
effectively they just carted all the waste to the mill
the second problem is that at low feed rates the plant should still have been able to float of the salt
especially with the addition of MOP
this didn’t work either
hope that helps you
but there is no silver lining here
