"hey want to return us all to 1950 - where they know it's safe - where we've been before ". ........ when they were children and all they had to do was play. No threat, no harm other than at the hand that fed them.... and they deserved the punishment they were given .... so its all within the known and there is nothing unknown - security and comfort in the face of threat/danger.
neurotic longing for the childhood comfort of familiarity and certainty. hence the echo-chamber becomes very comforting and those who threaten their certainty are the enemy (you and me)
