Because they can't be stuffed doing it themselves.. there's no moat, very obvious.
If anything, Square should've bought ZIP.. it presents a lot more value and they already have the clients, so they could grow it and exceed Afterpay.. it's obvious they are being lazy about growing it and would rather buy it
