oh yeah - it's not a unique experience. there are loads of examples of radical leftist ( or market unfriendly) governments coming into power which results in catastrophe for investors.
I think a lot of people don't understand the risks of these sorts of events. there are a lot of earth scientists here but not many political scientists.
these sorts of governments have a notorious history of killing golden geese in the pursuit of their understanding of "social justice"
