@picastoc - I learnt a lot of colloquialisms when I worked for the Central TAB office in Bunbury - this was in the days when bets from the minor country agencies had to be relayed by telephone to a central office, I then typed them up and relayed to Perth. I was one of the telephonists - I enjoyed this job but had to learn to pronounce 'numbers' with an Aussie accent, real quick! My English was British with a touch of Germanic, which everyone thought was 'Seouth Aaafricahn' -
