The rumoured transactions at Fortescue and Felix suggest Chinese investment capital will keep flowing into Australia's key resources sector, despite the diplomatic rift following the arrest of Rio Tinto executive Stern Hu in Shanghai last month on suspicion of stealing state secrets.
Sources close to Fortescue were quoted as saying that China Investment Corp officials made a top-secret trip to Australia last month for a closed-door meeting with the Fortescue board.
IMO one of the Chinese brought a step ladder with them and just maybe one looked over the fmg fence to see what FMS was up to.
