There you go geem: the original chart (thttps://hotcopper.com.au/posts/53080108/single) and one that's been updated as of today's close. The revenue modeling methodology, revenue multiples, forecasted figures by the models, chart methodology, etc. were all disclosed in detail in prior posts. With all the input variables and methodologies disclosed and in some cases explained ad nauseam, I stopped responding to the one person who despite my initial attempts to correct his misunderstandings/misinterpretations of the methodology (and thereby conclusions drawn) simply kept going after something he clearly didn't understand and thus made it impossible to have a discussion about the framework and validity of assumptions (before one gets to the conclusion).
I could have been a condescending ***hole and offered to simply send one of our summer interns over to explain concepts covered in Finance 101 classes, but instead choose to simple let it be as he seems to get easily offended when called out. The chart basically spoke (and speaks) for itself IF you understand what it says, including its caveats, etc. It would have been great to have a discussion about it at the time it was initially posted, such as confidence in observing past multiple levels in the future, implications on the chart, etc., yet we never got there. Anyone who understands what items were actually forecasted, what items were then overlaid, and what a resulting potential range of outcomes (affected by the input information based on the market's past pricing behavior) may tell us about future prices simply wouldn't have made the silly comment that triggered this post.
There's ignorance due to lack of knowledge or understanding and then there's willful ignorance. The latter is a much sadder occurrence today considering the substantial amount of data, qualitative information, sources and viewpoints at our finger tips. Exercise care and judgement when assessing what should contribute to or detract from your viewpoints and if not sure, spend the time to research things to be able to discuss them in the appropriate frameworks as otherwise you'll be talking past others without getting why.
