EdenCrete has been included in a Colorado Department of Transportation project to evaluate concrete pavement in Summit County Colorado, where they traditionally use asphalt pavement. 3 sections were placed by IHC Scottand Summit Materials on the western side of Vail Pass, in the right hand lane of I-70 eastbound. EdenCrete is going head to head against a CDOT Class P mix and a silica fume mix for durability and resistance to snow chain rut, abrasion, cracking, and scaling from deicer chemicals. To date, the EdenCrete section has the highest compressive strength and appears to be withstanding abrasive wear significantly better than the CDOT Class P or the silica fume sections. Exposure to deicer and chain rut will begin next winter.
