I know I shouldn't mention they who should not be named, but I believe this was a potential idea with Qianyun back in the day to see if Pablo could do what no one else could with some of the lakes in China (Qinghai in particular if I recall correctly).
I would also imagine there will be a lot of hopefuls in SA with tenements who have jumped in on the hype in which the realisation is now dawning that it's a bit more complicated than traditional mining and may look at an opportunity such as this. Not sure how it would work logistically but if it were economically possible through some means it could be massive indeed.
