I assume that transshipment of large volumes of sand by road to port will be a major impediment to any prospective sand miner peers across Australia. Moving 1 million tonnes a year by road would involve 20,000 truck movements per annum (using B-doubles) and may even require road upgrading as part of any mining license approval

I would also assume that MLM's shore to ship movement at Cape Flattery would essentially be by conveyor which gives it such an attractive economic and environmental advantage over its sand mining peers. Go Metallica!
