I found some info about Sumatran and Kalimantan coal from a report on the U.S Dept of Interior website.

Kalimantan has been mining coal since 1849 and Sumatra since 1891. They both have low sulphur and low ash coal, which means people want to buy it. Indonesia produces more thermal coal than anyone.....I never knew that.
