Greekcybersecurity software in space flight control

Cybersecuritysoftware designed and developed in Greece, utilized by the large technologycompany Brainchip in the simulation and control of the most powerfulneuromorphic nsoc chip (Akiδa) worldwide.

The nsoc Akiδa is already used tocontrol NASA space flight.
It is a chip that functions like the human brain, possessing
1.200.000 neurons and 10 billion synapses. It is a product of the Americancompany Brainchip Holdings. For the security control and executionof simulations of the Akida chip, the cyber security software was designed anddeveloped in Xanthi by the laboratory of Mathematics and Informatics, of the Departmentof Civil Engineering, of the Polytechnic School, of the Democritus Universityof Thrace.

Specifically, it was developed in thecontext of the postdoctoral research of Dr. Konstantinos Demertzis underthe supervision of Professor Mr. Lazarou Iliadis.
This software detects a large number of cyber attacks, at a minimum
seconds. Shortly after the research was published, the Laboratory ofMathematics and Informatics was in the spotlight of international interest frommajor news agencies such as Bloomberg.

"The collaboration startedbetween my lab and Brainchip which is a technology company based in Californiaand holding in Australia. "It is a big technology company, as can be seenfrom the reflexes they have," Mr. Lazaros IliadisProfessor andPresident of the Policy Department

"We have developed software thatconverts data into a time series of electrical signals to detect cyber attacks andeven

"They saw our publication fromthe company and after a month the founder of the company came to my office. Hegot on the plane and came. We had just done the application, we had publishedthe results in a scientific journal and the CEO of the company came to Xanthi.We did a demonstration of our software, was impressed, saw the prospects ofcooperation and immediately signed a non-disclosure agreement that we willnever disclose the technical characteristics of our cooperation, with criminaland financial responsibilities.

Then the "monster ofbureaucracy" delayed us for 6 to 7 months, we signed a contract, westarted to cooperate and we developed the software according to therequirements of the company. As part of the collaboration, we did a course fora number of months
to the French Brainchip partners on how to use our Software ”

The Akida

Brainchip's research effort soonturned into an innovation product. Brainchip is currently conducting researchin collaboration with NASA on the use of Akida in space flight control.
"This is a chip that works like the human brain," says Mr. L. Iliadison the show. "Our brain works by transmitting electrical signals that aretransmitted from neuron to neuron. Akida has improved Intel's previousneuromofic chip by 100 times. It contains 1,2 million neurons and 10,8
billions of nerve connections. It is far from the capabilities of the humanbrain but we have reached a point where we are approaching many of itsfunctions. Of course, one wonders why NASA was interested.

Space flight control

NASA, in collaboration with Brainchipand Vorago, uses Akida to control space flight. For example, it tries to detectand deal with possible problems in space flight "says Mr. Iliadisregarding the prospects of the software, its applications and thecollaborations that appear.

"It is a big program whereVORAGO also participates, a company that ensures that Akida will not be damageddue to its large exposure to high radiation. We are proud to have contributedto this effort. In fact, Brainchip has
