Natural gas has an atomic structure of ch4. 1 carbon atom and 4 Hydrogen atoms. It can be liquified and shipped around the world as you said in purpose built ships that can transport 52500 tonnes. BTW, LNG ships capacity is measured in cubic metres, not tonnes. Standard size is around 150000m3.
In comparison, Hydrogen is the lightest element on the periodic table. It will be electrolised out of seawater to the h2 molecule., which has 2 H atoms and 1 carbon atom less than natural gas. It is lighter and less dense than natural gas. If it was liquified you could probably carry over 100,000 tonnes on an LNG ship, if the Hull could handle it.

Therfore, because the h2 molecule is so small and light, we only need to compress the gas and not liquify it. Thus easily economically being able to transport to Japan, China and Korea, at a minimum, as stated by DF.
If we liquify, we can increase the capacity.
It was not so long ago, these LNG bohemoth ships were inconceivable and considered too dangerous
Oh, and your hydrogen vs diesel energy density is completely wrong as well.
Hydrogen has an energy density of app 120mj/kg., almost 3 times more than diesel which is around
44mj/kg. So in terms of kilos, you would use a third of that you would with diesel. And its green, and we will be making it so its at cost and no money goes outside our company to power our fleet.
BTW, the gev ship is just the beginning, it will be scaled up very quickly, just the way the LNG ships evolved.
Don't know why they just don't convert the lng ships to h2, just like the pipeline??
Anyway, its difficult to compare lng ships because they are liquified vs our compressed gas.
SO I am not sure if you're down ramping or just have your facts wrong. So please, double check your facts before you insinuate this project is uneconomical. Total and Total Eren certainly don't seem to think so and neither do the Saudis who are transitioning to hydrogen, to ship around the world and sell, as they have done with their oil for decades.
