You can judge company progress by a list of possibly 101 things without including share price!
In no special order - just a few to get you started ....
- Technological progress
- Industry awards
- Industry recognition
- Quality of staff
- Size of staff
- Staff retention
- Attracting quality staff
- Contracts with resellers
- Product sales
- Sales channels
- Customer reviews
- Diversity of user cases
- OEM deals
- OEM partner quality
- Sales partners
- Government recognition and approvals
- Customer support
- Industry reviews
- Market reviews
- Innovation
And when you do want to judge by share price - don't - if you want to use "the market" as an indicator you should actually be looking at market cap, not share price. ie Has the value of the company, as recognised by the market, increased?
Answer: Yes.
If however you want to judge the quality of your investing skills - I'd suggest a whole different set of indicators - including share price - and I'd suggest these judgements can and will change with "when" you measure them.
